Couple of Date Ideas, Part 2 | Summer Edition

Well summer is off to a bang wouldn't you say? It was just three months ago that we were talking about how the winter storms were kicking our asses and now how we longed for the hot weather. Well now that the hot weather is here people are second guessing that wish during the daytime lol. None the less, hanging out at the night scene has picked back up and the loose, or lack there of, clothes have rolled back out. There's so much more to do in the spring and summer time because the weather allows us to do so, but most people won't look beyond the typical to go out and do it, that's where I come in to help you out with. With the second installment in this series, most of the dates will focus on activities that can be done outside of a house, restaurant or club. I really hope this helps a lot of people like the last installment, because summer is a great time to be out and active.

1. Amusement Park, Downtown Festivals & The Circus | It's Summer, it's hot out. What's better than going 100mphs, twisting and winding through the air. Or catching cool sights and sounds at the circus. Get out and about and have some fun. Downtown festivals are hot spots for food truck festivals and many different kinds of cultural festivals to explore and learn something new.

2. Take A Trip.
| Whether it's to the beach or somewhere that's on the other side of the world, this is prime trip taking months. It's not winter anymore and some of your favorite places are being flooded with visitors, you and your significant other can vibe out somewhere and not have to be stuck in the house anymore.

3. Be Adventurous.
| Go hiking. Rock Climbing, Skydiving, Zip-lining, Rafting, Camping. There are so many things that are cool enough to do now that the snow isn't a factor. There are groups who get together and do these things so you don't feel the pressure of doing them. Along with guides, it's very easy to do.

4. Have A Water Fight.
| Picture this, it's a blazing hot Sunday afternoon. You're sitting around not doing a thing. Whipping out some water guns, balloons and some kiddie pools in the backyard with your friends can kill a lot of time. You're never too grown to have some fun.

5. Sign Up For A Mud Run Or Color Run.
| This year more people are becoming active and shedding the lifestyle of fast food and sitting on their butts. A mud or color run is a great way to assist in that. There are even Zombie runs that are conducted. Plenty of variations of runs that you can participate in case you're tired of the regular 5K run.

6. Spend The Afternoon At The Beach. | If you live near the beach then this is the ideal thing to do. If you live close enough you can explore the city and branch out to there when there are special events. Plus when the temperature drops, it's a nice view of the sunset or sunrise over the ocean.

7. Spend The Afternoon At Your Local Farmer’s Market.
| There are plenty of things at the farmer's market to see. If you're about the healthy lifestyle there are ample fruits, veggies and home grown  wheat products.

8. Plan A Patio Date In The Summer.
| BBQ, add beverages (wine, iced tea), and enjoy the warm air. It's plain and simple.

9. Learn A New Outdoor Activity Together.
| Kayaking, gardening, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, or sailing. So many cool things to learn how to do that you don't know how to do yet.

10. Go To A Drive In Movie Or Outdoor Theater.
| Not too many cities have drive in  movie theaters anymore, but if your city is lucky enough to have one or you're close enough to one, then I suggest you visit them. They're pretty awesome and something different. Outdoor theaters have many plays during the summer time. I suggested seeing plays in my last post, they serve as an alternate to movies, and sometimes they're better than them, IMO.

11. Dine Under The Stars.
| This is my personal favorite because it involves food and the cool night weather. I also like the scenery of downtown, so after a nice meal you can walk around and do a little talking and looking at the shops that are still open. Or even possibly stop somewhere and get drinks after.

12. Learn Something Fresh.
| Museum parties, cooking classes under the stars, art classes, there are so many things you can learn how to do that is fun if you get out and look for it.

13. Teach The Other How To Do Something They’ve Never Tried.
| The guitar, a new card game, how to bake an apple pie, just as a few examples.

14. Exercise together.
| Take a fitness class together you’d both enjoy. Or, buy a workout DVD, a challenging one to try at home. Couples that stay fit together show an increase in happiness, in a study, somewhere.

15. Work on a fun project together.
| Buy supplies, figure out instructions, and get to work!

16. Volunteer Somewhere.
| You’ll spend quality time together and help out someone else in the process. It's always a great thing to give back to others who can't do fun things themselves.

17. Get Hooked On A New TV Series & Have A Marathon.
| Try watching a show your significant other loves and is always talking about. It might end up being your guilty pleasure.

18. Be Tourists For The Day.
| Go sightseeing around your city. Stop inside places you often pass but never go into.

19. Game Night.
| You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a good time. Try a play date instead. Pick up a deck of cards and a board game for an indoor date.

20. Spend The Night By The Fireplace.
| Some days you're just tired and want to lay down in peace and quiet. Coming out of the shower to a warm fire place, with wine and some strawberries waiting for you. These are good things about having a significant other to take care of you, especially on those days where you simply just can't.

21. Take In The Sunset.
| Walk on the beach, sit on a dock, find higher ground, sit on a rooftop, or just choose a quiet spot to soak in the sunset together. While you’re at it, pack some food and turn it into a simple sunset picnic.

22. Stargaze
| It's so classic that it's almost a cliché, but spending the night outside is so romantic we couldn't resist including it. The best way to stargaze is to actually know what you're seeing, so download The Night Sky app. That way, you can actually be confident you're looking at the Big Dipper before you abandon all pretense and just make out.
  1. Great dating ideas I think I'd do some of these solo or with friends since finding people to go on dates with is too complicated. :)

    1. Haha we're in the same boat as well then, but doing a lot of this stuff with friends is a great substitute and less baggage, sometimes.
