Ride Along 2 Movie Review

I liked this movie.

As I always say, a lot of people these days are not the movie critics that they think they are. This movie currently holds a 13% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.8 on IMBD, for no apparent reason. Well I would say I would give it about a 60% and 6.5 ratings respectively on my end. I'm one of those people that enter movies realistically and unselfishly. A lot of people feel as though they want every single movie to be the movie of the year when they watch it, and they are rightfully justified in thinking that. But when it comes to movies, sometimes it's just better to sit back and lose yourself for about an hour or two.

That's exactly what I did with this movie and the end result is that I was happy with this film.

This movie has a total run time of about an hour and a half, so it's a pretty quick movie in terms of run time. The story line was pretty straight forward and to the point, it didn't waste my time like most movies do in trying to set up characters. The benefit of having this as a sequel is that Cube and Kevin are already in their roles and everyone else is simply complementing the story.

They also don't introduce that many characters anyway, I think it was about four or five at the most. I think Olivia Munn did a great job in this movie of being the love interest of Cube, (even though the last scene was a bit corny lol). Benjamin Bratt did a great job as the villain, I wouldn't have killed him off though, I would have bought him back as a tag team villain with Laurence Fishburne and a supreme baddie leading them, *ding*! Ken Jeong adds a great dimension to the duo that I felt was missing and I'm wondering what he could do in a sequel. Arturo del Puerto also was an addition I would like to see more from in a bigger role.

But in the end this movie was to the point with the cheap laughs per the usual, so I knew what was going to happened coming in and I wasn't disappointed. I give this movie a solid C+ because of me knowing what it is and what it was going to be. The supporting roles added a great dimension to the story that wasn't there in the first movie. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing a third and final film in this story to wrap things up completely and send it off. Maybe an Ice Cube wedding, backdrop would perhaps be some corruption in their own department, hmmmmm.

Also I want to thank God for making Tika Sumpter.

Have you seen this movie? If so I would love to hear how you liked it in the comments below.

Until next time guys!
