Zootopia Movie Review

This wasn't a bad movie at all.

So initially I thought this was going to be one of those movies that only kids liked, (like Frozen). But after seeing the preview during my Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens visit, I was kind of interested in it at that point. To be fair this is a children's movie and from the scope of a child this movie is perfect. So if you're wondering if this good for your kids to go see then I fully recommend it. It's a cool and harmless movie with you being able to laugh at parts as well.

With that being said, let's move on to the actual review shall we?

Right off the bat the main character Judy Hopps shows us her larger than life ambition to become something more than what her circumstance allows her to be. A great little motivational tool for your kids to learn when someone says they can't do something they really want to. The story doesn't waste too much time on her younger days or what motivates her. Instead the movie knocks all of that down and get to her plot point fairly quickly; great transition to the main story by Disney here.

Basically the story line does what it's suppose to do for a kids movie, and the pace is nice and non-confusing for the younger audience members. Along with the story line, the movie looks pretty great from animation standpoint. I wasn't really expecting anything less from Disney here. I would actually probably pay money for the 3D version if I had kids to go take to see this, from the standard version it looks to be a pretty good 3D viewing.

It's always great to see certain actors, (or in this case hear), that I actually like. I don't know much about Ginnifer Goodwin but she did a pretty great job here, same with Jenny Slate. Jason Bateman gives his normal great effort in this. And even though Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Tommy Chong and Octavia Spencer parts were all relatively short, I still enjoyed them while they were on the screen. Also it seems like these movies have one great musical cameo and that came in the form of Shakira, who did her part well.

Over all I give this movie a solid B-. I know a lot of critics and people love this movie right out of the gate, I just like it as meh. It's not really one of those movies that jumps out and grabs my attention forever. But it is a good movie to see and enjoy; I just won't be jumping up and down to watch it over and over again when it comes out on Blu-Ray.

What did you think of this movie? Did you just fall in love with it or did you hate it? I would love to hear from you in the comments below.

Until next time guys!
