The Jungle Book Movie Review

This movie did my childhood justice.

When I saw the previews for the this movie, a bunch of hope washed over me. I know a lot of people don't like the idea of movies being remade, (and rightfully so after a bunch of failures), but this was one movie I was really looking forward to. When done right, a movie can be remade to look better and capture those old feelings. Having a live action film for arguably one of the most well known children stories, (and Disney movies), when I was growing up had some pretty big shoes to fill.

The story line was straight to the point and didn't try to do too much. I'm glad Disney didn't try to change anything with the plot because anything else would have ruined it in my opinion. The main thing I was focused on was the graphics and the cinematography as a whole. It really didn't let me down and this movie looked really, really, really great. And that's what I loved the most about it, it told the exact same story with a better back drop.

You really couldn't ask for more.

Everyone pretty much killed their roles. I was quite impressed with young Neel Sethi, he did a tremendous job in this movie and he didn't come off as one of those annoying kids that simply whined and complained the whole entire time. He actually had a wide range of emotions and it all paid off in the end. Everyone who was hyped to be in this movie served a critical role in their parts, and they all killed it. My favorite parts were very close and although I love Christopher Walken very much so, Bill Murray as Baloo stole the movie right along with young Neel.

Although the story ended the way it did, (if you haven't seen it then I'm not going to ruin it for you), there's still a couple of different places that they could go with the sequels. This movie was done pretty great overall and I'm actually looking forward to at least the next installment, whenever it should come out. Overall I give this movie a solid A; it was great to watch and I'll watch it a couple of more times, but it still is second best compared to the original in my eyes.

If you've seen this movie then I'm curious to hear what you have to say about it. Leave it in the comments below and I'll definitely get back to you.

Until next time!
