Book Review | Worry Free Living By Joyce Meyer

You never realize how much you stress about things that don't matter until they're presented in said light.

I have the pleasure of reviewing Joyce Meyer's new book Worry Free Living: Trading Anxiety For Peace a week before it hit bookstores and I couldn't be more happy than I am after reading this book. This book touched on a lot of topics that ranged from the self improvement in the sense that you can change things on your own to realizing how much of influence God can be in making everything that much better if you allow him to. We never know how much his presences matters until we're in the thick of things, wondering why we can't fix what's causing all of our problems.

To give some background on why this book helped me out a lot, I'll be honest and tell you that I've been stressing a lot of things as of late. I'm not going to go too deep into what was stressing me, it's more so that I was allowing it to stress me because I was trying to do it all on my own. I wasn't trying to hear anyone's way of doing it, nor did I want to concede defeat. So I kept pushing issues and I kept trying to make something out of nothing. I was basically being a very selfish and immature person about the whole ordeal and I paid the price.

But after reading Joyce's book I realize what I was doing wrong.

One line in particular from chapter 18, (There's A Time For Everything), stated: Everyone faces some trials and tribulations at some point in life, but as we continue to believe God and place our trust in Him, He will fulfill His promises to us and those troubled times will give way to better days. Reading that one line in particular made me realize that I was doing it all wrong, which was causing me to be stressed out all of the time. I realized that I was trying to be the end all to all of my problems when that was never going to be the case.

Joyce's book made me realize, (among other things as well), that I wasn't letting God use me as I should have allowed him to. Instead I was trying to face the brunt of the world on my own and handle all of my problems when in fact no man can solve anything with out the help of God in some form or fashion. There are a certain number of things that we must do in our everyday lives that will allow us to mature and grow as we should. Not allowing God to do his work through us is not one of those things, and by stressing and worrying about things we have no control over, that's exactly what we're doing.

But after reading this book I realized that there is always time to turn it around.

This book is amazing from the perspective that a lot of stress about things that happen to us during our daily lives that we have no control over. Joyce not only hits on that point, (along with so many others), she also gives you ways of reconnecting with God and all that he has planned for you. She does a masterful job of weaving in out of points that are great and also imperative for everyday living away from stress. I, for one, am glad that she wrote this book because I really needed to hear this uplifting, encouraging and guiding words.

The book comes out on June 7th and you can get it at this link here: Worry Free Living: Trading Anxiety For Peace. I highly recommend this book and suggest you go and pick it up when you can. It's not a heavy read, I found navigating around the book fairly simple and to the point. You'll end up reading this book way faster than you'll realize.
