Don't Feed The Trolls

The one thing that amuses me the most on social media are none other than trolls.

Internet trolls can be the funniest group of people on the planet if done right, and if they aren't, then they are the most annoying people. See there are two different types of tolls: the ones who love to make sarcastic and humorous comments towards redundant statements, situations or willfully ignorant celebrities. I will admit that way back in my earlier experiences of twitter, I was troll towards my fellow military personnel. It was a fun time because we were all basically trolling one another and just having fun doing it. There were no hard feelings, well most of us didn't have any, and we knew it began and ended when we logged out. That's the kind of trolling that I like, that's the kind of trolling I participate on and off of social media, it's just jokes.

Then like any other thing in life, you have a side that just plain sucks.

That would be the malicious trollers, the ones that aren't happy with their own personal life, so they come on social media and try to make other people lives suck. Now at first the trolls were really annoying and they were really getting me to engage in debates that didn't make sense to me in the end, then a revelation came to me; they only want to illicit emotions from me. That's the soul reason why a troll, whether good or bad, would want someone to acknowledge them. I don't know if there is an exact science or study floating around out there, but I can say that the people that troll for malicious intent are the ones that have some serious issues that need to be resolved with the help of a therapist, just saying.

But at the end of the day, the point I'm trying to get at is that trolls aren't going anywhere and they aren't going to change anytime soon. So with that being said it's up to you how you engage said trolls because they are only here to give you pure and utter hell. I know a lot of people that aren't exactly equipped to handle any kind of criticism that may arise, and trolls tend to go to levels that aren't, how do I say this, respectable. They say all of the things that they are scared to say in public, and that usually means any and everything because they think it's ok to rile people up and point out how easy it is to rile them up.

Just don't let it get to you because at the end of the day, it's not that serious what they say or how they feel because honestly they don't care outside of making you angry and engaging them because they don't have anything else better to do with their life. So just take what they say with a grain of salt and move on with your life, you never have to interact with the trolls beyond the time you give them, because my secret is to not pay them any mind and they tend to go away and bother someone else.

Just say no to trolls.

Have you had any run in with a troll and if so what happened and how did you respond to it? Leave it in the comments below.

Until next time guys.
