I can truly say that I’m proud of myself and my circle of friends thus far. With it being almost three months into 2015, we all have accomplished great things.
I think 2015 is a year of “Coming of Age”. I’ve expressed it many times that 2014 wasn’t my best year. I was lacking in a lot of areas. Although God had blessed me and granted me a lot of favor, I felt it was more to life. Gratefully, I wasn’t the only one. I prayed, fasted, got in my word, and got around the right people. A wise man once said, “Show me your friends, and I can show you your future.” There is truly a blessing in having the right connections.
As I stated, I felt that there was more to life. I always thought, “I’m a child of the King, why am I feeling the way I feel? I should be blessed!” I had one problem though, I was talking about what I wanted so much, and I wouldn't work! We’ve all been there. Some of us want the job, but not applying. We want the new house, but not saving up. We want the relationship, but we’re not being faithful and considerate in our friendships. We want to get married, but not taking the time to think of the things a marriage (a Godly marriage at that) entails. We want what we want, when we want it, and how we want it. We use God as a genie, our wish is His command, and we do nothing in return.
God led to realize that in order for Him to move, I needed to re-position myself, and prepare for all that I asked him for. It’s kinda like preparing for the arrival of a baby. Being an expectant parent, you buy all the things you need to be ready for your newborn baby. You get the crib, baby clothes, bottles, diapers, milk, car seats, blankets, and all that other stuff. No, the baby isn’t here yet…but you’re prepared. I had to not only ask God for the things that I wanted, but prepare myself, even if it means meeting God halfway to make things happen as well. I was determined to live a life of fullness. In order to do that, it was time to put up or shut up.
So I want to challenge every reader, go after what you want, but be sure to put God first. There’s nothing wrong with having plans, but put them before God first and make sure it’s a part of His will. After that, go after it! You can go back to school, you can start that business, you can be a mentor, you can buy that house, you can start that ministry. You can do whatever God gives you the strength to do. But it’s time to stop talking about it and bring these dreams and visions into fruition. The bible says in Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish…” Someone is depending on your dream, you can help someone through your vision. You never know who’s waiting to be inspired by you!
Stop wondering, contemplating, and talking about it…make it happen! What do you have to lose?
