I just watched Spectre and I realize that more than ever it's time for Daniel Craig to step away from the role of Bond. I know that he is tired of the role, as you can see from his many comments on the matter, but also in his body language. Don't get me wrong for one second, he's one of the great Bonds and personally my favorite, but it's clearly time for him to walk away on his own terms and Spectre could be just that for him. While the directors say they are confident that they can get him to come back I say don't do it. It's time to for someone else to put on suit and go out and be the suave killer that we've come to love over the past couple of years.
But if you see the reports from "purest" and a author tied to the franchise, many say the man that we all want to play the role is "too street". I'm not going to go too much into what those comments mean because literally everyone on twitter and around the world pretty much took care of that. But instead of just saying that Idris would make a great Bond, (because who hasn't seen a movie or TV show with this man in it), let's look at what makes a man eligible to play Bond, according to Wiki How. (Keep in mind that this is the condensed version, you can check out the full version by clicking on the Wiki How link).
Ok so I don't know about you guys, but when I was reading this list I could think of several movies that came to mind where he exemplified each one of those traits. I mean I don't know what more you want from the man when he clearly is what you want from a Bond AND the women already love him. This is one of those no brainier casting choices that will probably get overlooked because everyone wants it and the series heads will go with who they think will be great. Which is quite possibly the worse decision you could make; well unless you're Marvel who seems to get it right every single time.
Many people will point to the fact that Bond is a white superhero that is made to spread his dominance all over the world and made to look invincible. I will say this is true with all of the Bonds up until Daniel Craig's take when bought that level or realism and up to date idea of beauty with women; (well besides his last one). Either way Idris Elba personifies what James Bond should be, not because he's black, but because he's that dang awesome as an human. One person pointed out that he's not good for the role because he's black, but because he's British, and I strongly support that. Tall, handsome, charming, physically fit, has the acting chops and he's actually British, I honestly don't know what more you want from a Bond.
But alas, I can make a case all day and everyday for why Idris should be Bond, regardless of his age. It's up to the series runners to have the balls to pull the triggers and it's up the fans to not be a bunch of douche bags and reject it because he's black. See beyond the color skin because he's just a great actor, I mean heck we had to do that with all of these Egyptian movies ..
Any who, what do you think about Idris playing Bond? I think he would make a great Bond for the simple fact of who he is as an actor and not just because he's black. Let me know how you feel in the comments below. You can also check out the first entry here: Word Is Bond.
Until next time guys.
